With all the summer shoots winding down and as the fall family photo sessions start to ramp up, I wanted to make this blog entry a little more personal. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a new dad. I'm a proud dad. I post pictures of my daughter, my wife, and my family on social media almost every other day. What can I say, I shoot photographs for a living, why not share them with the world?
My family is everything I shoot for. They inspire me to help create images for other people and their families. Whether it's a wedding, a maternity shoot, or a reunion - I shoot photographs with my own family in mind. For the images that I've shot of my wife and daughter, I use #DearLennon to help keep a visual time capsule for her. When she's old enough (or should anything happen to me), I'd like her to be able to see all the moments we've shared together as a family.
Sometimes we tend to overcomplicate photography. Lighting, gear, composition - it can get crazy at times. Just take a picture. Use whatever camera you have. Make it your own. Make it personal. Just take a picture. You won't regret it.
My daughter will be celebrating her first birthday soon. I created this video for her and her mom to show them what this past year has meant to me.
"Dear Lennon,
You've been a huge blessing to your mom and I. We've learned the value of time, family, and love because of you. Our faith keeps us strong. We can't wait to show you the world and capture those moments and our memories one photograph at a time.
I created this video in celebration of your first birthday. Hope you like it.
Love,
Daddy"
P.S. Thank you Pampers Japan for inspiring me to create a Mom's 1st Birthday video for my own family.
