We just returned from the National Stationery Show held in New York City this past May 18th through the 21st. It was a great show for us - as we considered the show as our "official debut" to the industry, our peers and the rest of the world. There were so many card companies out there - each bringing their own perspective to the greeting card industry. We met individuals and retailers from all over the world. To those that we spent significant time with... thank you for your business, your insight and most of all - thank you for believing in SoReal Unlimited.

We were chomping at the bit to release this year's SoReal Unlimited Mother's Day Series.

A little unknown fact is that the company was created based on the concept of Mother's Day with regard to the many relationships and situations that mothers celebrate and endure on their special day. It is officially the first week of March and Spring is right here. Starting this month and each month moving forward we will be highlighting our pick for the SoReal Unlimited Card of the Month!

In addition to learning more about why we created the card (including all the "behind the scenes" antics and stories), you will receive a duplicate copy of the card with every Card of the Month that you purchase. In essence you will receive two cards for the price of one.

The SoReal Unlimited Card of the Month for March 2008 is "A Better Place."

"A Better Place" was our take on your everyday "Thinking of You" type of card. We created it for those moments when you were reminded of someone special from your past that may or may not be a part of your everyday life. You know what I mean...like when on your long drive to and from work your mind wanders and someone who had a positive influence on your journey in life brings a smile to your face.

I can't remember the last time it snowed in Florida - and with it being about 80 degrees outside right now - I don't think it ever will. So we decided to bring the "Snowfall" to all of you. This is our Christmas/Holiday series that we created for you to share with your friends and family this season.

SoReal Unlimited presents..."Snowfall!" Five Christmas/Holiday card designs that were created to help bring a more personal touch to card giving this holiday season. There are cards for friends and family that will be far apart from you during the holidays, cards for those friends that are close to your heart and not to mention cards for that special someone in your life.

In the next few days, we'll be adding the "Christmas Bow" Set to the site. And for those that want to get a little more personal this holiday season, we have Blank Card versions of our designs. Look out for those too!

We hope you enjoy this series...as it will be our last for 2007! We are actively working on our 2008 line of cards - lookout because Valentine's day is just around the corner.

If you're in town this weekend, we will be celebrating "Avalon Aglow" on Saturday, December 8th from 5pm-9pm in the main town center area. All of our cards will be available for sale alongside a multitude of food vendors and other specialty arts and crafts vendors. There will be live reindeer, real snow and of course Santa will be there!

Oh and yeah, I almost forgot. SoReal Unlimited is now the preferred greeting card provider for the City of Orlando Police Department! You can now find our cards in the Cop Shop at the OPD Headquarters in Downtown Orlando.

On Friday, November 9th, 2007, we attended our first official arts and crafts festival sponsored by the Arnold Palmer Medical Center (APMC).

APMC is the umbrella for the Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies.

This was our first chance to interact with potential customers face to face regarding our products. Receiving feedback on the cards was what we looked forward to the most. We found out that a "Best in Show" award would be handed out that morning. Jen and I didn't think we had a chance (this was our first show). The judges came by our table around 8AM. They took a look...we got some smiles...some tears and one judge finally said, "These cards could get me out of a lot of trouble!" Fifteen to twenty minutes later, one of the judges came by and handed us the blue ribbon for "Best in Show."

The award was the icing on the cake...the real reward came from the fact that we made it through our first show. Friday was a good day.

One word.

One simple word can take you by surprise. Give you insight. Echo your deepest thoughts. Inspire you. Or break your heart.

A single word also serves as a key that can unlock a trove of emotions. A single word can start a chain reaction or cast a different light on the everyday and familiar. A single word can simplify, or complicate, matters.

A single word has power and grace and takes up little space and precious time.

Sometimes a single word is so beautiful on its own that it doesn’t need another one next to it to give it meaning.

One word can be interpreted in a million ways.

One word can sum up everything you’ve always wanted to say.

One word, however, can’t encompass how the creators of “Singular Notions” realized that sometimes, one word could make a difference. So here they are, to introduce you to SoReal Unlimited’s newest line of cards.

Ray: “The concept came about in one of the many brainstorming sessions for ‘Origins.' Writing and designing ‘Origins’ was an intense undertaking, because the imagery in both design and text was intense. For the next series, we wanted to jump to the other end of the spectrum, to something simpler and elegant. Frank was the one who came up with the suggestion of using one word on the front of the card. Weeks later, the first three words just popped into my head: Love, Trust and Hope. I wrote down my interpretations of those words immediately and ‘Singular Notions’ was born. Among the obvious choices, we also tried to find some unexpected words. We also wanted to test the boundaries of what a single word could mean. We had a blast writing and designing this series. That’s why we’re also working on a ‘Singular Notions Vol. 2,’ which we’ll release soon. But for now, we hope we’ve done right by you and gave you a collection of words that further defines the notions you’re experiencing in your life right now. Thanks for taking a look at our newest line-up.”

Frank: "To echo Ray's sentiments, 'Origins' and a yet-to-be-released card line was so much more involved and intense visually and verbally that it was natural to step back and do something that was, in a sense, the polar opposite. We wanted to have a change of pace when it came to the content and the look of the cards but still having as much impact as possible emotionally. Design went from the 'Origins'-style always colorful, full-bore words/art to negative space and clean looks. These cards will provide a nice change in pace with content that still reflect the goals of SoReal Unlimited in card-making. Enjoy our newest line.. and keep your eyes open for more!"

Mike: "Sometimes all it takes is one word to truly make a difference in what you say and how you say it. We selected ten individual words - SUDDENLY, LOST, ALWAYS, HOLD, HOPE, LONGING, TRUST, DEFY, NEVER and FORGIVENESS - each with their own meaning yet collectively they embrace many sides of life that deserve to be endured, shared and rejoiced. "The first ten" as we like to call them make up Vol. 1 of a series that we anticipate will be an everyday favorite for our customers. To me, our flagship series 'Origins' required us to use more words and longer verses to capture conversations and feelings that come from deep within the heart. 'Singular Notions', on the other hand represents the non verbal cues: quick glances, slight smiles and eye contact that are minimal in nature - yet can mean so much."

“Origins” is the travel journal of our first foray into the broad and varied world of greeting cards.

When we started, we had a destination in mind. What we didn’t have was a map guiding us to points between.

We knew our first line of cards needed to cover a wide range of situations, emotions and categories. We knew early on that to unify the series, we needed a consistent look and feel. We knew we would have to clear some roadblocks, make several U-turns, take detours and occasionally get off the highway to merge with back roads less traveled in order to accomplish this.

Naming the series “Origins” was the most appropriate way to commemorate our first steps. No matter how far we travel from this point, we want to remember how we started.

We know that one day, we’ll look back on this first line-up of cards with nostalgia, like flipping through an album of childhood photographs or old high school yearbooks.

We’ll linger on a few images and smile. We’ll nod at an inscription or two that still resonates. We’ll see how much we’ve grown, how much we’ve learned, what we’ve experienced since then. We’ll marvel at the spirit of those earlier, more reckless days, when we set off toward a random horizon.

You should always collect a souvenir or two with every journey you take.

“Origins” is ours. We hope some of these cards become yours, as well.

Here then are a few words from the creators of this series, on why they took left turns instead of rights, why taking the scenic route was far better than the main roads and what “Origins” means to them:

Ray: “At the start of it all, I really didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know what I was going to write. So I wrote what I know, what I’ve felt, what I believe in and what I’ve witnessed. I figured it was a good place to start—considering we decided to gather this wide array of emotions under the ‘Origins’ banner. Beginnings are the most challenging—and exciting—experiences in life. Mikey, Frank and me each found our voices to document the ‘Origins’ of SoReal Unlimited, and for that, I couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait to see which road we’ll take next. But first, a nap. Then a few games of NCAA Football 08. Then probably a few drinks. Then another nap. Then we’ll get started on the next series.”

Frank: "The first card I designed for 'Two Things' was a disaster. It wasn't 'deep', it wasn't colorful and plainly it wasn't that beautiful. I thought I had imagined it well and I imagined it was good, but when it was finally put through it's paces, the only thing I could think of was vomit.. black and white vomit. =) Thankfully we all had an epiphany in 'Origins'. We needed impact and we needed emotion to show not only in the words, but also in the images. I couldn't be happier and more proud of the moments we will be making for other people and I hope that everyone will accept my humblest thanks for believing in our cards and in their own hearts."

Jen: "The beginning of a dream. To think back to when my husband told me his idea about starting a greeting card publishing company and to see what has evolved during these past few months has been remarkable. I never thought that three guys would create such thoughtful, meaningful and emotional cards that can touch everyone's lives. 'Origins' is just that...a reflection of our genuine feelings - from heart, to mind, to pen to paper. I hope all of you enjoy this series of cards and continue to tell all your friends and family about SoReal Unlimited. Hmm...'Origins'...I like that...to think this is just the beginning."

Mike: "'Origins' to me - in its rawest form - represents so many things. It is like a feature length film made up of snippets from what most of us call LIFE. It is my childhood. It is every lesson learned in school, at home and from every mistake I've made. It is when I couldn't tell my father all that I wanted to say. It is every accomplishment. It is the truth. It is the beginning of the unknown. It is a risk. It is my family. It is the rise and fall of every argument. It is when we believe that our mom is the best mom in the world! It is faith. It is about losing a loved one. It is love and everything we thought love was. It is every dream come true. It is everything we are thankful for. It is my wife. It is life. It is real...it's our first line of cards."
